Hey y’all!
I hope you all had an amazing weekend! My only regret is that Sunday came so quickly. If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that we spent the weekend in Emerald Isle, NC. Well actually, Cedar Point, a small town right outside of Emerald Isle that’s not even as old as I am. We lucked up and found a beautiful home via HomeAway.com with an amazing view. It was hands down the best vacation we’ve had in a while. We spent time at the beach everyday relaxing and soaking up the sun. Despite the warm weather, the beach was never very crowded which made it easy to unwind and enjoy our time there. This was the first trip I took without my laptop tagging along since I started me job last April. It felt good, but was a bit anxiety provoking. The world of Autism can be fast paced, and things can happen quickly. Since the work I do directly affects people’s lives, I like to keep my finger on the pulse of things.
I any event, this beach trip was the first of many this season, so I’ve got high hopes for the trips to follow.
Good weather- crowd = perfect environment for a photo shoot! My poor husband was so patient, and didn’t question me when I put the camera in his hands. I found this suit on Amazon, and originally purchased it for our trip to Negril, Jamaica last summer. This was only my second time wearing it, and it’s still just as cute. I’ve linked this suit (which comes in a variety of different colors and slogans) below.
When we got to town, we had a little time before check in. So, we grabbed lunch at The Trading Post. If you’ve never had a fried banana pepper, you’ve not lived. I opted for the shrimp and grits for lunch because I like to fancy myself a connoisseur. Their version was little different from what I’m accustomed to, but in a good way. It was very rich and creamy, and the poached egg was a surprisingly tasty touch.
The restaurant itself was also very eclectic with a very cool courtyard. Of course, a mini photo shoot ensued after lunch. Staff was very engaging and attentive which always makes for a better experience wherever you go. I’d recommend giving them a try if you’re in the area.
Day 2 we hung around the house in the morning and enjoyed breakfast with view. That afternoon we grabbed lunch at Rucker John’s. The cuisine was very reminiscent of California Dreaming so I got my usual; a club sandwich with a side salad. Afterwards, we headed to the beach again.
I got so many compliments on this outfit Friday! Most thought it to be a dress, but it’s actually a jumpsuit. The split-leg created a flow that gave off a dress-like illusion I suppose. I have been really lucky at the old Ross lately, and found this jumpsuit along with the red polka dot jumpsuit above on my last visit. It’s clear that I need to stay out of Ross for a while before my luck has my pockets empty!
Day 3 was the wedding day at Camp Leguene, a military base in Jacksonville, NC. It was a hot, yet beautiful day! This was of course they pinnacle of our vacation as I got to wintness my beautiful Aunt marry her love. This lady deserves to be happy more than any otherness human I know. She lost her husband and son all within a decade, yet she still radiates God’s love, strength, peace and joy. Of course I had to adorn myself in this bright, bold hue for such an occasion.
Dress: Asos// Clutch: Amazon// Shoes: Shoedazzle (similar pair)
We finished out the rest of the day at (you guessed it) the beach 🏖. Since we has spent the previous two days at the beach and stayed in a house with a hot tub, I picked this suit up last minute. I paid 9 whole bucks for this little number at Walmart of all places. I’ve linked a similar suit below as well.
