Hey ya’ll!

Spring made it’s official entrance this past week, and now that skin we’ve been neglecting all winter long is in need of some love. Even for those of us who have been sticking to a skincare routine throughout the colder months, a new season can call for a new approach. I sweat like nobody’s business, so I’ve been really focusing on keeping my skin balanced as the temperature rises. Keep reading to find out which products I’m currently loving on to keep my skin happy this spring and summer.

Keeping my skin clean is super important. Controlling for breakouts is equally as important. Prior to the switch to my current face wash, I believed I needed to use a face wash containing some sort of acne fighting ingredient to feel protected. The Images Skincare Ormedic Balancing Facial Cleanser is showing me a different way. This organic-blend gel cleanser is formulated to lift makeup and other impurities away, while helping to balance the pH of my skin. For an added bonus, it doubles as as toner preparing my skin to better absorb any products I apply after I wash. This cleanser boasts a blend of organic chamomile, green tea and oat kernel extract which will while restore skin’s balance while leaving is soft, hydrated and clean.

I’d heard about the benefits of witch hazel, but had never gotten around to trying it. Again, I was stuck on the much harsher topicals such as astringent to fight excess oil and breakouts. One day while in Whole Foods (a phrase you’ll probably never see me type again on this blog. Ain’t nobody got time for Whole Paycheck!), I stumbled upon Thayers Alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera. I figured there was no time like to present to give witch hazel a try and picked it up. Turns out all the people who rave about it were right. I love the fact that it gently cleans my skin beyond what my facial cleanser can do. I swear every night I remove my makeup, wash my face and am still able to get some residue with the witch hazel. Like what crevices is this makeup hiding in? My hope is that this product is just that good and I’m not wrinkling like a prune.

After some time, I’m still rocking with my Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. I love it because there’s so many uses for it! Some recommended uses include setting makeup, hydrating skin while in dehydrating condition or giving your skin a boost of moisture whenever you deem necessary. I like to use it immediately after I wash my skin to lock in that moisture. The light, floral scent is nice too. Using it makes it easier for me to stop and smell the roses everyday (ha, get it?)

Despite my oily skin, I’ve been on a beauty oil kick. I dropped into TJ Maxx to check out their massive skin care aisle. They have SO many different things to experiment with that I literally closed my eyes, picked something and hoped for the best. What I came out with is Rosen Apothecary’s Tea Tree Beauty Oil with Vitamin C. This oil clarifies while balancing and brightening blemish prone skin. I am in love with this stuff, and I’ve searched high and low on the internets and cannot find this exact product anywhere. AHHHHHHHHH! However, I shant fret for Rosen Apothecary also makes a highly rated anti-aging serum made with Vitamin C, green tea and jojoba oil that I plan to try next.

I know I’ve focused on facial skin care products mostly, but I can’t end this post without giving the Teet props. If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember my ode to Harris Teeter’s sugar scrub via my instastories around Thanksgiving. This stuff is the most amazing! It has transformed my skin in ways I hadn’t anticipated. One night last week after I’d showered and was laying on the couch, I noticed how shiny my legs were. So shiny they were reflective! AND, I had lazed it up that night and had not used the body scrub. Wow! Of all the oils and lotions I’ve used in my life, I’ve never had a product change my skin the way this stuff has. Unfortunately, I’m unable to link it here, but you can definitely find it in your local Harris Teeter. If you pick some up, come back and tell me how you like it!

  1. To prep my skin I use, Aveeno Brightening Scrub, and Shea Butter Soap from Walmart to wash my face. Then I apply Terminator 10, Skin Success, Ponds Moisturizing Cream from Walmart ,and Raw Shea Butter from the Flea Market. Jergens Skin Firming Lotion is my go to for my body.

  2. I used to spin a fortune on facials because I couldn’t get my home routine to do what I needed. My friend recommended an organic resurfacing peel and it has made all the difference. I think I’ve perfected my home routine too but that peel is life changing.

    • Nice!! I’ve done chemical peels a number of times, but I’ve never tried an organic resurfacing peel. It sounds less harsh. Is it better for your skin? Thank you for sharing!
