Watching her in her element was moving. I’ve been getting my nails done bimonthly for 10 years and I’d never been to a nail salon owned by a woman who looked like me.Continue reading “Harper’s Parlour Nail Salon in Durham, NC.”
Last Sunday at six in the evening, the Hanes Mall Belk turned into more than just a department store. For two hours it became a haven for educators – current and retired – and their families. The store remained open after hours to offer Forsyth County educators a night of fun and exclusive discounts in preparation for the start of the school year. I was just happy to be in the number!Continue reading “Hanes Mall Belk Educator Appreciation Event”
Hey y’all! Despite what the title may suggest, this post is actually about a pretty successful target run. Really, I suppose that’s dependent upon what you would deem successful. If that includes parting with coin you didn’t intend to spend in Target, then this trip I’m about to speak of was in fact a success. C’mon! We’ve all fallen victim to the target okie doke! But, with that aside, I went in to get milk and came back with four really cute dresses all for around $100 (with my 5% discount)! Keep scrolling to take a looksee.Continue reading “Target Run and (your wallet is) Done!”
Hey y’all! We attended the Lexus Charleston Fashion Week event last night in downtown Charleston, and had the best time! That was the first time I’d attended any sort of fashion week event anywhere, so to have it be in my home state was special to me. The Lexus Charleston Fashion Week event was more than we could have expected. I can’t wait to go back!Continue reading “Lexus Charleston Fashion Week 2019 -What I Wore”
Is it just me or are there other women out there who collect a million bras that they never wear, and that just end up taking up space in the drawer? 🤦🏾♀️ Continue reading ““If Your Cup is Half Full, You Probably Need a Different Bra””
I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day, and spending time with the women you love the most. ✨
Even though we’ve lived in the Triad for over three years, I still feel mostly connected to the Triangle. Most of my contacts are still there, and the home base for my full time job is there. Continue reading “Date Night Loading…”
Hey you guys!
Saturday got off to real chill start for me, and it was really nice. Normally I don’t give myself enough time to get everything done and I’m usually rushing from one thing to the next. But, Saturday was different. I woke up earlier than usual and was able to move through my morning routine at a leisurely pace. Spring made it’s official entrance this past week, and now that skin we’ve been neglecting all winter long is in need of some love. It’s been a while, but I’m back! Sadly, my return is not on the best of terms as I have some really disheartening news to share. I recently picked up the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation at my local Sephora, and was really excited to try it. I checked it out online first, and was able to find my shade match fairly easy using the online shade finder. I strolled into Sephora, found my match and was on my way in about 5 minutes. I attended a professional conference last week, so I was amped to put it to the test as I would staring down some really long days. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed with the result.
In terms of how well the foundation matched my skin, I’d rate the Lock-It Tattoo Foundation a 3.5 out of 5. Based upon the shade I use in another foundation that matches my skin well, the shade finder recommended Deep 77w as my shade. Though this shade was supposed to be warm, I don’t feel like it meshed well with my golden undertones. Once it oxidized, it actually made me look a bit pasty. When it comes to my shade choice, I usually go for foundation that matches the deeper tones of my face. My forehead it darker than my cheeks, so I tend to match my shade to my forehead. I don’t enjoy, nor do I have any use for looking pasty or ashy.
This is a full coverage foundation that truly lives up to that expectation. I would rate the coverage 5 out of 5 as it did a great job of covering imperfections. If you’re using this foundation, you more than likely won’t need a concealer to bolster coverage.
Whew chile! This is where things went all the way left. Literally 5 minutes after I’d set my face, the foundation had already settled into my smile lines. I. DO. NOT. HAVE. TIME! This is a definite deal breaker for me. Of course I expect some settling over the course of the day, but 5 mins in? Oh no! This was the most frustrating aspect for me. For this reason, I have to rate durability 2 out of 5.
Overall, I rate this foundation a 3.5 out 5. This foundation has amazing reviews (4 out of 5 stars on Sephora.com from 13k reviews) which obviously means it works well for a number of people. Sadly, I’m just not one of those people. Of course I spent my hard earned coin on this foundation, so I’ll probably continue to use it. However, I doubt that I would purchase it again. Have you ever used the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation ? If so, how’d it work for you? Is it your jam or is it a no for you? Let me know in the comments below!
